XIX-century English Pub and Eating House

“Civilised and friendly stripped-stone pub with enjoyable food and good wine choice.” by The Good Pub Guide

Dear guests and friends,

We want to keep you and ourselves safe from 19th July when restrictions are lifted.

To make sure we can give you great service, excellent food and drink, as well as maintain the health of staff and customers we have the following measures in place:

  • “Hands, face and space” is still in place here
    • Sanitise your hands before, during and after
    • We would be grateful if you wear your mask when you are not at your table
    • We kindly ask you to keep social distancing
  • We will keep table service for the time being (booking a table is highly recommended as we are working with restricted numbers)
  • You may order a drink at the bar but we’ll require you to consume it sitting at the table (no standing at the bar, please)
  • We will continue to uphold ALL our safety procedures

Please respect these simple measures and let’s all have a happy and healthy summer!

Whilst we deal with the uncertainty of the coronavirus, I wanted to update you on the precautions we are taking even more since now on to ensure that our dining pub – The Oxford  Arms – remains a safe space for our guests and employees to enjoy over the coming months.

– As always, we maintain the highest possible level of hygiene and have been kitted out with extra anti-bacterial spray cleaners for all the surfaces that been recommended by the Cherwell District Council Food, Health and Hygiene department, namely: CLEENOL (kills 99.99% germs) and Dettol (kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses).

– All our cleaning cloths and napkins that we use in the pub have been washed at 90ºC cycle and then ironed at 200ºC.

– We clean all the door handles and toilet seats with a special anti-bacterial spray cleaner every hour.

– Our team has been fully briefed with current government requirements and are undertaking extreme levels of health and safety procedures to ensure that guests and other staff members are safe.

– At the Oxford Arms, we have taken necessary steps to ensure we reduce the risk of any contamination.

– Our dining pub including dining and bar areas is light and airy. All our tables are at least one meter away from each other.

Thank you for all your support, and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us via email

We look forward to welcoming you at our dining pub soon!

The Oxford Arms is an award-winning XIX century dining pub in Oxfordshire run by chef patron Bryn Jones since 2003.

We serve good, honest food with a minimum of fuss and maximum flavour.

The menu changes seasonably with daily specials to use even more local produce (some of the ingredients are from our organic Kitchen Garden and Kirtlington village itself).

Our real log fire will keep you warm in winter and our beautiful garden patio will keep you cool during hot summer days.

You will be looked after from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
