Reopening Policy

THE OXFORD ARMS REOPENING POLICY

We are now taking bookings starting from Thursday, 3rd December, evening. According to the government’s guidelines announced on 26 November 2020 Oxfordshire county is in Tier 2, which means we will be operating as a restaurant only and up to 6 people from one household including supportive bubble at a table are allowed.

We have made a few changes because of COVID-19 restrictions – please take a few minutes to read carefully our new policy.

It may seem a little complex but it’s essentially the same as you would find anywhere else and it’s all designed to ensure you have an enjoyable and safe meal.

Due to a lot of requests we will continue offering our “EAT OUT AT HOME by Bryn Jones®” takeaway service for those who found that they enjoyed letting us doing the cooking.

The menu is published at 9am every Wednesday on our web-site https://www.oxford-arms.co.uk/menu/eat-out-at-home/ for ordering and collection on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunches.

All the details can be found on our web-page: https://www.oxford-arms.co.uk/menu/eat-out-at-home/

  • Limited availability will become our new “full house” so that we can promote social distancing and safeguard our staff and guests.

  • Bookings / Cancellations:
    • According to the latest Government’s guidelines you can book a table inside from one household including supportive bubble. The maximum number of guests at one table is 6.
    • We can only take bookings at the moment – ‘walk ins’ won’t be possible initially.

    • Christmas 2020 and New Year – all the details can be found here.
    • Under the UK Health and Safety regulations, we owe our staff a duty of care. We are responsible for ensuring our team are able to work in safe and healthy conditions. All our tables inside are socially distanced following the COVID-19 regulations to feel safe during these times. Thanks for your understanding.
    • You will receive the booking confirmation by email: we are kindly asking you to bring it with you.
    • Please note: We require a valid credit card to guarantee your reservation with us. No fee will be charged, unless there is a late cancellation or no-show. A £20.00 per person cancellation fee will be made to your credit / debit card, in the event of less than 48-hour notice given of any cancellation, reduction of number of guests or amendments unless it’s connected to medical conditions / issues. • Service / Social distancing / Health and hygiene:
    • According to the new government’s guidelines face coverings must be worn when visiting restaurants, pubs and cafes when you are not sat at a table. This means when walking to and from your table or when visiting the toilet a mask must be worn. Anyone who fails to adhere to the new rules will face a £200 fine. In the interest of the health and safety of our staff and customers face coverings MUST be worn in the premises by ALL regardless of any exemptions that may apply elsewhere.
    • We support the NHS Test and Trace system: following the government’s guidelines while booking we’ll be asking your full name, telephone and email address. • Please maintain social distancing as you would anywhere else.
    • We reconfigured indoor and outdoor seating and tables to maintain social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) between customers of different households or support bubbles. Some tables have been removed.
    • Our front of house and kitchen staff will be wearing face coverings.
    • We would kindly ask you to wash your hands with soap and water and / or use our sanitising hand gel when entering and during your dining if required.
    • Entrance door: “One in, one out” system.
    • Toilets: “One in, one out” system. We’ll sanitise the toilets as frequently as possible before, during and after the opening hours. We also would like to ask you to be gracious to our hard-working team, so please keep the toilets clean after use and wash your hands with soap and water (and / or hand sanitiser).
    • We are planning for maintaining social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) in the event of adverse weather conditions, being clear that customers cannot seek shelter indoors unless social distancing can be maintained.
    • Failure to observe safety measures will result in service not being provided.
    • If you have COVID-19 or any flu-like symptoms (if you or anyone at home has a temperature or a new, persistent cough) PLEASE CANCEL YOUR BOOKING AND DO NOT ENTER THE PUB. Our staff are here for you – please don’t risk infecting them and other customers.

  • Payment:
    • We are kindly asking you to make contactless or card payments or if you would like to pay cash, then exact money would be preferred.

  • “EAT OUT AT HOME by Bryn Jones” takeaway service:

About

The Oxford Arms is an award-winning XIX century dining pub in Oxfordshire run by chef patron Bryn Jones since 2003.

We serve good, honest food with a minimum of fuss and maximum flavour.

The menu changes seasonably with daily specials to use even more local produce (some of the ingredients are from our organic Kitchen Garden and Kirtlington village itself).

Our real log fire will keep you warm in winter and our beautiful garden patio will keep you cool during hot summer days.

You will be looked after from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
